12/9/05 for $1500 from an ad on The Recycler web site (Southern
California). Shown sitting on Bubba, 1970 F250 Camper Special. |

| I've
been going through the camper over the last couple of weekends.
The wood in the overhead bunk, wings, and floor are very solid
with little sign of water leakage. The windows do leak a little
so I'll need to keep it covered when it rains until I can replace
the seals. |

| Checked
the 110v electrical and all the outlets work. The only 12v item
that didn't work was the 4 bulb overhead light (think it's the
switch). The original battery's still in it but looks bad. The
trickle charger puts out 11.75v but the terminal clips are badly
corroded (easily replaced). Haven't checked the water pump yet.
I'll check the plumbing when I get the pump operating. The propane
tanks need to have the valves upgraded to the new type. I'll
check all the gas appliances (I do have a gas detector) after
I change the propane valves. The hatch cover hinge for the 110v
power cord storage was damaged so I fixed that yesterday. Started
resealing the clearance lights, they'll need to be replaced
because the plastic is deteriorating. The roof was coated with
some thick aluminum looking coating that's staring to pull off.
Underneath it looks like the sheet metal was replaced (pop rivets).
There's a hole in the outer skin near the front window (tree
damage). The fiberglass tail piece has been damaged and it has
a few scrapes and scratches but overall in good shape for being
37 years old. |
 |
Mostly
it needs just a few things to make it roadworthy: new door knob,
grab handle, left tail light lens, left backup light lens, refrigerator
vent cover, water heater vent cover, a couple of window cranks,
etc. The Mrs. and I are looking forward to taking it out and
having people ask "what kind of camper's that?" I'll
keep you posted on our progress and send more photos. |
