The fridge repair was interesting. The
manuals said that there were only 4 screws holding the fridge
in. Wrong....(the screws were cam screws requiring a special
tool) and there were 10 of them.....2 outside on the floor
through the access door. Two above the fridge in the cabinet,
4 on the sides and 4 behind little caps on the front. When
the fridge was removed, we could not free the heating element
from the tube due to the heating element being welded in place
from the heat....There was not room
through the little access door to get a grip on the heating
element that only stuck up about 1/4 inch from the tube. Once
we drilled out the rivets on the galvanized box surround the
heating element and tube, removed the insulation, we were
able to pry up from the bottom and free the heating element.
From that point on, it was just a matter of sticking the new
element in place, connecting the wires, testing, and re-installing.
good news is that the fridge now works on gas and electric
and the Russian Vodka in the freezer is ready for guests.
