Insurance  
We have had the same insurance company for many years. They insure our home, vehicles and RV's. We were very fortunate that our claim was fair and our rates did not increase. The downside was that they know little to nothing about RV's. I got the repair estimate from Cayo and did research on costs for comparable Avions. I prepared an itemized list with pictures and pricing for all equipment I would need. I presented my findings to the insurance company. Based on my research they reached a settlement for that dollar amount.

1987 AVION 32S Accident Project continues.
In the morning we realized how lucky we were. It is hard to believe that this was an accident that the three of us walked away from. Notice how the ditch really protected the passenger compartment. The double roll on its side caused cargo to go out the side window not forward. Most of the damage was on the hood and rear. No one fixed this truck. It was declared a total lose. Enough about the truck. I loved it but I can buy new one.

Things were pretty messed up on the inside. The dinette was pushed up in the air by the gash outside. Most of the dovetail drawers held up. Later it was discovered that some cabinets were torn away from the wall. During the restoration all of the kitchen area seen here was removed.
The insurance company totaled the truck and the Avion. New trucks you can get but Silver Avions just get more scarce through attrition. We bought this trailer new and my wife and our five children spent many summers traveling, often while on business trips .There was a big empty spot inside of me that was not getting better. My wife and I decided to purchase the trailer as salvage. The insurance company issued me a check for the settlement less $500, the agreed upon salvage value.
