When
my 1987 32S was being rebuilt by Chuck Cayo in 2003,
this AVION 26R was also in the garage. Chuck related
that a hunter brought it in for a window fix. Chuck
was on the look-out for an early model to restore for
a family treasure and purchased it.

| The trailer
is production #904. The model is R26. According to information
on Dr. G's site the 26R production began after model 900.(Click
here
for DrG's reference.) This should make it a coach built around
1957. It had a list price of $4,250 and weighs 3300 pounds. |

When
I saw the trailer in 2003 there was some polishing work that
had been done. You can see some of this on the door. The early
Avion was not anodixed aluminum so they can be brought back
to a high shine. This door has a long way to go. To learn more
about the types of aluminum skins Avion used during different
decades Click here.
Note the new teardrop running light. |

This
is the big change since last year. The interior has been
gutted. At the Cayo repair facility it is often easier to
remove everything. The interior furnishings can be refurbished
on the work table. The interior is opened up to attend to
structural problems that may need repair. This is the same
method Chuck used to repair the interior of my trailer after
the accident. Avion Gal took this picture through the front
window. Cayo repair was closed when we picked up our trailer.
